Blue print patch "Crowns"

The fabric for this patch comes from Blaudruck Wagner in Bad Leonfelden, Upper Austria.

Blue printing is a traditional craft that has almost died out in German-speaking countries. Maria and Karl Wagner run one of the last two blueprint shops in Austria in the Mühlviertel. Linen has been dyed by hand in the family business since 1878, now in the fourth generation.

A notice:

  • Each patch is a handmade unique piece. The pattern may therefore differ slightly from the one shown here.
  • This patch is extra thin and 100% linen. It is therefore particularly suitable for carrying newborns in the baby setting as well as for particularly hot days.

100% linen

Traditional blue printing: The linen is printed by hand with an ink-repellent protective material. This imprint causes these areas not to take on the color later when dyeing with indigo. This creates a white pattern on a blue background. It is printed with old wooden models. The technique of printing with wooden models originally comes from India and came to Europe in the 17th century.
